The Carr Center says
Objectified brings together the work of a small group of female identified artists who find themselves focusing their practices on the depiction of objects. Although their impetus’ and drives are diverse, the act of a woman painting mundane objects in the face of a social and artistic history that has called her very person a thing and at times mandated her artistic production be relegated to the inanimate is noteworthy. This exhibition takes note. The Carr Center presents the work of six different Michigan women and by privileging the female gaze asks the question what does it really mean to be objectified?

Exhibition runs from November 20- January 15, 2016
Artist reception December 11, 6-9 PM
