Our Ephemeral Life says
Our homes and routines, and the objects in them, take on new meaning after a loved one dies. Public Pool art space gives viewers a chance to consider their power in Our Ephemeral Life, an installation by multidisciplinary artist and performer Eleni Zaharopoulos.

The installation is a public resurrection of personal objects the artist shared with her former fiancé and collaborator Adrian C. Mejia, who died five years ago. At one time these objects dwelled in spaces where ideas, friends, and food frequently intersected. For this installation, Eleni brings them together again for a brief and special reunion, possibly for the last time. The installation will also include new visual works that explore metaphysical collaboration, and personal identity and bereavement.

Our Ephemeral Life opens May 9 from 7-11PM with a birthday party for the artist. For this event, the installation will be treated like a proper living room, and will feature a clairvoyant, food and a DJ. The show runs May 9th- June 27th.

Our Ephemeral Life is co-presented by and a part of the Porous Borders Festival: a two-day free public art event taking place May 16-17, 2015 along the HAMTRAMCK/DETROIT border with works reflecting and engaging the diverse experiences of those living along the border, and examing the nature of borders themselves.
