Spread Art at Detroit Contemporary says
Radical Sounds Detroit explores the cutting edge and avant music of Detroit.

Saturday 11/21
Doors: 8pm
Show: 9pm - 11pm
Sliding Scale: $5 - $10

Created and curated by veteran musician and native Detroiter James Cornish, Radical Sounds Detroit gives space to the radically different, the genre-defying and the always challenging hues of creative musical artistry. It is the aim of Radical Sounds Detroit to nurture experimental music in the city of Detroit.

The tenth edition of Radical Sounds Detroit features guest curator Ben Willis. He is a bassist, improviser, and composer whose affinities lie in collaborative projects, new music, improvisation, and the merging of cross-disciplinary elements. He released an album of solo double bass compositions, Egret/Flatlander, in summer of 2015. His jazz-rock band, Lovely Socialite, will be releasing their second album, Toxic Consonance, in fall of 2015. He lives in Ypsilanti, MI, and performs often throughout the midwest. He was recently named Artist in Residence at the University of Michigan's University Musical Society.
