Red Bull House Of Art Resident Exhibition says
Join us for the opening of our final Resident Exhibition of 2016 featuring new work from Beau Stanton, Lala Abaddon, and Coby Kennedy created during their 3-month residency at Red Bull House of Art.

This event is free & open to the public of all ages.
Doors will be open from 7pm - 10pm.

Beau Stanton is a multi-disciplinary artist who's work takes the form of paintings, murals, large scale installations, stained glass, and multimedia animations. Focusing on meticulous technique and craft, Stanton’s work is heavily informed by historic ornamentation, religious iconography, and classical painting. A keen interest in iconic visual symbols and Jungian archetypes often provides the foundation for his images.

Lala Abaddon seeks to examine the dual nature of binary relationships with parallels that give shape to their physical existence. In her woven work, she integrates many components in her process, capturing her unique images multiple times through a repetitive sequence of traditional analog photographic methods, then arranging the large format prints into precise and deliberate pairings. She continues on to intricately and painstakingly hand cut each print into hundreds of strips and then hand-weave the prints with undulating and complicated patterns designed to convey a specific feeling, eventually leaving us with images within images and compelling the viewer to experience alternate realities or states of being.

Coby Kennedy’s work deals with often unspoken and unaddressed dynamics of media’s influence on modern social entitlement and problematics of self-image. Using the communication tools of advertising and the entertainment industry, his painting, sculpture and video hint at unspoken truths, the culture of veiled intent and questions of subjective realities. Exploring the gray area between Fine Arts and Industrial Design, the work touches on Kurzweilian issues of The Singularity, as well as exploring often overlooked global issues of social class, power and influence as it exists today, has existed in the past, and as it will exist tomorrow.

Red Bull House of Art is a live-in residency experience in Detroit, dedicated to providing visual artists the freedom and space to create. Our aim is to support courageous exploration in visual arts.
