The moment has come.... The Summer of Gin culminates on August 31 with the Ginsmith Championship.

The event marks the final round of Detroit City Distillery's small batch gin cocktail competitions featuring Detroit's top bartending talent. Each contest, a new winner was crowned and now, all five are back to close out the summer with a juniper-infused bang!

Who will reign supreme as Detroit's Ginsmith of the Year?


James Downs (Selden Standard, Gin No. 1: Elvethea Winner)

Will Lee (Selden Standard, Gin No. 2: Baron Winner)

Paul Fradeneck (Honest John's, Gin No. 3: Peacemaker Winner)

David Martinez (The Last Word, Gin No. 4: Hickory Winner)

Chas Williams (The Oakland, Gin No. 5: Harvest Moon Winner)


The Gin: Cocktails start flowing at 6. The competition starts at 7. Drinks are $8 all night and it's all limited edition small batch gins.

The Process: Contestants make killer cocktails using any of DCD's summer gins. Patrons join judges to select the best cocktail and determine who takes home the prize.

The Prize: Serious cash money and title of 2015 Detroit Ginsmith of the Year.

The Judges: Shane McGrath (President of USBG-Detroit) and Travis Fourmont (Cocktail Ambassador, Great Lakes Wine & Spirits) among others.

The Food: Kung Foods is serving up bao (asian steam buns) all night to soak up your gin.
