After an extra Sunday away from the Park, we are ready to gather again, this Sunday, April 12th at 11:00am. The weather is breaking, the Spring rain is turning the Park green again and our Friends will be out in numbers.
Activity is beginning around the new Hockey Arena and some streets will be blocked. The activity that concerns our Friends is where they will live as the price of rent goes up. Many have already been put out of their Downtown housing due to the rents sky rocketing costs. Those people we know have been living with little to spare since we have met them a number of years ago. For them these times are are uncertain and time will tell where they will end up. For our Friends without homes, they will continue to come where they can for that good warm meal and necessities and that's why we are there.
So do what you can to give our Friends a good Sunday in the Park. If you have some food or clothing to share, good. If you have nothing but time and a smile to share, good too. Remember there will be too many volunteers, so make some room for all to help out. If you just spend some time listening to others tell their story, you are doing something that is needed.
We are also guests in the Park and it is our custom to leave the Park cleaner than when we found it. If you want to help pick up the area that is more than welcome too. Daryl and some of the Fellas run the bags for us and will be there before we are picking the area up. There are too many stories around opening day about people coming into the City and leaving their trash behind. We are not them.
