A student/woman of color that works to end violence against women will receive the Ava Rogers Award for recognition of her work to end violence against women and children.

Community agencies that assist survivors of sexual assault have been invited and will also be present to provide information and referrals to participants.

The Wayne County SAFE Project, First Step, Turning Point, SASHA Center, Interim House, Wayne County Prosecutors Office and the Victim Assistance Program have all been invited to attend. There will be food, a DJ and other activities.

Goals of this event:

To send a loud and clear message that sexual assault survivors on campus and within the community no longer have to suffer in silence and isolation.

To publicly proclaim that sexual assault and abuse in our community or on any college campus is unacceptable, inexcusable and will not be tolerated.

To raise our community’s consciousness about the effects of sexual violence and its impact on Metro Detroit, as well as provide support to survivors and inspire all to hope and to heal.
