Arab American National Museum says
The Arab American National Museum (AANM) invites you to a FREE evening of dialogue, film, art, and discussion on Saturday, April 9th from 5-9pm. The event was inspired by our temporary exhibit, "The Map is Not the Territory." The exhibition examines relationships and commonalities in Palestinian, Native American, and Irish experiences of invasion, occupation and colonization. These three groups have intersected for centuries in specific and often unusual ways.

5:00-6:30pm: Youth dialgoue program - Revolves around "The Map is Not the Territory" exhibit as we guide youth through a brief tour of the Museum, followed by a roundtable discussion on a wide variety of topics including identity, stereotyping/"the other," and injustice.

6:30-7:15pm: Light reception & gallery stroll - Enjoy finger foods as you're engaged by Native poets and tour our newest exhibit, "The Map is Not the Territory."

7:15-9:00pm: Short film: "Kickflips Over Occupation" followed by panel discussion - This 22-minute documentary captures the emerging skateboard scene in Palestine's West Bank and how youth are using their skateboards to overcome the rigors of life under occupation. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion with director of "Kickflips Over Occupation", Maen Hammad & Native representatives on issues of injustice in our society.
