“The Subtext” Sarah Brennan A.I.R Exhibition Opening says
Join us Friday April 22nd for a work in progress exhibition of current Spread Art A.I.R., Sarah Brennan. Sarah is a print maker and her recent work has been exploring metaphors for specific memories in life and the possibilities of printmaking as installation, and how it can represent the way we experience and process significant memories. Originally hailing from Missouri, Sarah is a University of Michigan, Stamps School of Art and Design 2014 graduate and is midway through her nine month residency with Spread Art.

The Subtext will be on display during all Spread Art Events through May 20th.

“The Subtext”

“Remembering is a funny thing because you never remember the whole of it. Rather that burning, significant, disjointed detail that becomes ingrained in you. A phrase or an expression or a peripheral image or the way someone made you feel. For the most part, these events will seem insignificant in the moment and yet will be loaded as a subjective personal narrative that wakes something up in you that causes a reaction that only you can identify with.” -Teresita Fernandez

From the Artist:
"For the past several years my work has focused in explorations of memory. I am continuously fascinated by the way we process formative experiences and the weight of that influence. In the past five months at Spread Art, my work has evolved into the interplay of printmaking, my main medium, and writing, a keystone in my creative process. The common thread throughout the works is not only the theme of memory and reflection, but the integration of my visual and written work. At the root of every piece, and every formative memory, there is a subtext."

Exhibit Opening:
Friday April, 22nd
7pm to 10pm

On View:
During all events through May 20th
