Time Out says

A colourful arthouse theatre screening an array of Irish and international films in the up-and-coming Smithfield neighborhood just north of city centre

With four screens and 164 seats, this intimate indie cinema is the perfect place to catch a feature film, short, classic, animation, documentary, or concert. The team focuses on Irish flicks with a political or cultural message, but mainstream blockbusters are mixed in when worthwhile. In addition to its regular (though quite irregular) programme, there are occasional special events like sing-alongs and livestreams. Light House is also a Dublin International Film Festival venue. And with a café and basement bar, filmgoers get more than soda and popcorn. Craft beers, wine, and cocktails are welcome in-screen, while the toasties, salads, quiche, soups, cakes, and sausage rolls are best enjoyed with post-film conversation.

Time Out tip: Seats are unassigned and rooms are small. Arrive early to get a good spot. Come here often? Become a Circle member (€20-49) and get free tickets, free Volta rentals, lower ticket costs, cafe discounts, bar deals, and free booking.

Nearby:
The Cobblestone: For trad music and proper pints amidst a welcoming, lively atmosphere
The Brazen Head: For wholesome food in a stone-clad, lantern-lit pub popular among literary legends
Generator Hostel: For burgers, brews, and games of pool in an industrial-chic setting
