Durban's winter events attracted well over 100,000 visitors, pumping hundreds of millions of rand into the local economy.

Durban's reputation ‘the warmest place to be in winter’ makes it a top event destination in June and July. This year is no exception, with the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry applauding the city's successful 2026 winter tourism season.

Total: The events welcomed well over 160,000 participants and spectators, providing a welcome boost for hotels, restaurants, transport providers, retailers and tourism businesses across Durban.

President of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Asheen Magjee, said:
"These events once again demonstrated Durban's ability to deliver world-class experiences. We commend the City's leadership for ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming environment for visitors, and we thank the event organisers, sponsors and partners whose continued investment contributes significantly to the growth of our city and provincial economy."
eThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba welcomed the recognition, stating:
"This acknowledgement reinforces the importance of strong partnerships in growing Durban's economy, creating employment opportunities and positioning eThekwini as a premier destination for tourism, investment and major events."
