Fragrant curries and old-school baking are on the menu as Yudhika Sujanani brings her popular cooking masterclasses back to her hometown.

Do you feel like it’s time to mix things up in the kitchen? Well, there’s no time quite like Heritage Month to get out of your culinary comfort zone. And we’ve got just the right ingredients!
The Royal Feast Curry Masterclass and the Durban Baking Masterclass, both presented by Durban-born cookbook author and food personality Yudhika Sujanani.
She’s returning to her hometown from Joburg for these special cooking masterclasses, hosted by local radio personality Darren Maule, and all the spots are almost taken!

The Royal Feast Curry Masterclass on Thursday, 3 September is where Yudhika takes you through some of her signature dishes.
Expect to get stuck into recipes including Royal Parda Lamb Biryani, Shahi Masala Chicken, Tamarind and Tomato Prawn Curry and Burfee Soji while learning the techniques and stories behind the food.
The idea isn't simply to follow a recipe. Yudhika will share the little tips and tricks that can make the difference between cooking a curry and actually understanding how to build its flavour.
This is particularly fitting for Heritage Month, given Durban's long and distinctive relationship with Indian cuisine!

On Saturday, 5 September, the focus shifts from curry to the sweet side of Durban's culinary heritage with the Durban Baking Masterclass.
Remember when afternoon tea was an occasion rather than something squeezed between meetings? This class takes a nostalgic trip back to the days of homemade cakes, freshly whipped cream, and recipes passed down through generations.
Yudhika will share the stories and techniques behind a selection of classic bakes, including her signature Mealie Cake, Waring's Snowballs, Fresh Cream Doughnuts, buttery Scones, Chocolate Lamingtons and White Chocolate Burfee Cake.
And because no proper afternoon tea should end without actually eating the good stuff, guests will enjoy an elegant high tea after the class.

Both masterclasses are hosted by Darren Maule, who has teamed up with Yudhika before following her appearance on his YouTube show In Conversation With... and East Coast Radio.
The pair's chemistry brings an extra dose of fun to what could otherwise be a very serious afternoon in the kitchen. Expect cooking demonstrations, stories, humour, and plenty of opportunities to pick up techniques you can actually use at home.
Each event also includes a personally signed copy of Madame Curry: Feast, Pray, Love, an exclusive Jimmy Choo Fragrances gift and a Jimmy Choo goodie bag from Bacher and Co.
So, this Heritage Month, why not try something a little different? Instead of simply eating your way through Durban's incredible culinary heritage, learn how to make some of it yourself.
