In a hidden corner of Girona's Barri Vell, close to city hall, Cúrcuma prepares small creative dishes ideal for anyone looking to share a romantic supper in a peaceful space. We recommend selecting some 7 or 8 to share between two, and accompanying your choices with a good wine from their list, which has more than 50 items on it, mainly from the Empordà Protected Designation of Origin region as well as various other wine-making areas. The Antònia Font cod (named after a now-defunct pop group from Mallorca) brings a bit of funk to the calm of Cúrcuma. As well as cod, the dish includes 'sobrassada', a spicy sausage that also comes from Mallorca, hence the name. It's cooked at a low temperature with caramelised onion and a hint of honey. The mushroom cannelloni with herb butter and dumplings of duck confit and apple, and the spinach with blue cheese cannelloni are both a delightful surprise for the palate. Two unmissable classics are the 'patates braves' (fried potatoes with spicy sauce), and the XL croquettes made with roasted meat and turmeric. On weekday lunchtimes they have a set menu that is simple but made with seasonal local products.
