The Mothership lands in Glasgow as virtuoso musician George Clinton brings Parliament-Funkadelic – the experimental space-funk collective he founded in 1968 – to town. He’s a Rock and Roll Hall of Famers responsible for some of the most influential music of all time, not to mention outlandish stage sets so iconic that one of them – the aforementioned Mothership – has become a permanent exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Not bad for a man who, in his 1970s prime, was so out of his head he thought it was a good idea to perform live wearing a giant nappy.
