Drunk Art History – Pop Goes the Andy Warhol

The term "art history" tends to make everyone – from art majors to innocent bystanders – immediately panic and curl up in the fetal position...that is until today. Shachar May, avid art historian and equally avid Tel Avivian, has removed the dreaded stigma associated with this cringe-worthy subject and replaced it with tipsy talks, fueled by "drinks, drinking games, and plenty of facts to impress people with the next time you're in a museum." Inspired by Comedy Central's "Drunk History," this month's topic is Pop Art. For just NIS 60, you can finally discover the juicy scandal behind Roy Lichtenstein's famous comic book girls, and Andy Warhol's deepest, darkest obsession (spoiler alert, it wasn't Campbell's soup!).

May 31, 21:00. 3 Simtat Beit HaBad, Tel Aviv. NIS 60. For more info, check out the FB event

SipScene – Grease Sing-A-Long

Have you got chills? Are they multiplying? Are you losing control? That's probably because you know that it's been forty whopping years since the release of Grease. Grab that hair gel and those leather jackets, head over to the first of SipScene's sing-a-long series under the stars, and karaoke like it's 1978. (If you're more of a 90s fan, sing your heart out at SipScene's 90s Rooftop Karaoke on June 30, 19:00).

June 7, 19:30. Rooftop in Florentine (address given upon signing up). NIS 70. For more info and other drinking events, check out SipScene's FB page

Drink & Draw

This popular event invites drinkers, drawers, etchers, and sketchers to The Red House, a multidisciplinary art and community space in Shapira, for a night of models and merlot. How does it work? Simple. First of all, no prior experience with drinking or drawing is required. Under the guidance of a professional tutor and nude model, the evening will be separated into two sections: Quick Sketches (varying between 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minutes, 5 minutes, and 10 minutes) and Relaxed Sketches (20 minutes for each model pose). All together, there will be 1.5 hours of drinking and drawing. What should I bring? An open mind and positive attitude. The event coordinators will supply basic drawing materials (paper, charcoal, pencils) and booze (two glasses of wine). You are welcome to bring additional supplies to the session.

The Red House, 35 Yisrael Misalant St, Tel Aviv. NIS 70 online, NIS 80 at the door. Stay tuned for dates on the Drink & Draw FB page
