A handful of Tel Aviv picks

  • Shopping
  • Bookstores
  • White City

The most magical place in the city is a second-hand bookstore with a special charm and smell, owned by an American expat, who knows every book hiding in this endless maze. Sit on the floor between the aisles and browse an old disheveled copy of Jane Eyre and feel for a moment as if you've stepped into another world.

  • Attractions
  • Sightseeing
  • Tel Aviv Beach

One of the most serene areas in the city is, surprisingly, an uncrowded seaside park. Behind you are all the lights and chaos of Tel Aviv, and in front of you is the glittering, neverending line of the Mediterranean sea and sky. The best thing to do here is sit on the rocks with a bottle of local Maccabi beer and watch the sunset.

  • Bars
  • Gastropubs
  • White City

This is a local neighborhood bar boasting vinyl records and simple drinks to enjoy at the end of a workday. It's a nice spot to hop into, away from the usual round of bars in south Tel Aviv. It has high-quality DJs that usually play electronic music and there are art shows exhibited regularly.

  • Restaurants
  • Hummus
  • Kerem Hateimanim
  • price 1 of 4

The Syrian's Son was opened after the legendary Syrian hummus spot in the Carmel Market was closed to the shock of its beloved fans. The authentic spot preserves the original taste, charm, and nostalgia of one of the best hummus places in Tel Aviv.

  • Shuk Levinsky

To be a real Tel Avivian means you must like arak. And lots of it. In this tiny spot in the Levinsky Market, you can enjoy the most successful combination of this city - arak and fish that come straight from the sea. Go with a date, share an entire bottle of arak and dig in to the catch of the day.
