Once the private residence of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the first president of the Republic of Turkey, the Atatürk Museum now houses a collection about his personal life: paintings, medals, military uniforms, photographs, ashtrays and even underwear. The house is notable as the place where, between December 1918 and May 16, 1919, Atatürk and other important officials planned the formation of the Turkish Republic.
