The Naval Museum houses close to 20,000 authentic pieces, including an extensive map collection and a large archive. The most impressive display is of the caiques, or single-masted sailing vessels used in the eastern Mediterranean. They are some 40m in length and adorned with mother-of-pearl, precious stones and ivory.
