This month the Avea Extraordinary Music Concerts series hosts Michael Nyman, who is known worldwide for his numerous film scores, especially his soundtrack for ‘The Piano’. As a music critic, Nyman was the first person to use the term ‘minimalism’, before he went on to compose and become a representative of the minimal music movement. In 2011, Nyman received the Ivor Novello Classical Music Award at Grosvenor House, giving him a place among England’s biggest composers.
