These two British groups are sure to have indie rock fans hereabouts counting down the days till their performance. Having released their debut album in 2004, the three brothers that make up The Cribs were once accompanied by guitarist Johnny Marr. This year’s ‘In the Belly of the Brazen Bull’ was their first album since Marr left the band in 2011 – though of course it’d be unfair to talk about The Cribs only in relation to their collaboration with Marr, since they’re responsible for quite a number of indie rock anthems, including ‘Cheat on Me’. The Courteneers, on the other hand, are best known for recording their 2008 debut ‘St. Jude’ with Stephen Street, who once worked with The Smiths and Morrissey. The latter is actually one of their biggest fans – a great honour for a band that often references The Smiths in their tracks.
