Until recently, only interesting to margin-dwellers and tourists, Beyoğlu’s back district, Çukurcuma, is suddenly approaching becoming the new Asmalımescit. In this sense, Baja is a touchstone, a protortpe of the typical ‘Çukurcuma locale’. Upon entering the sitting area, the eye is immediately drawn to the colourful lights, orange corduroy sofa and the open kitchen in the back.
Baja’s days start with breakfast—most notably the ranchero, a breakfast burrito or corn tortilla topped with egg, mozzarella and salsa. As for other meals vegetable soup, starters, slads, burritos, main courses and nine or ten types of burger are available. Especially when it comes to the burgers, with delicious mince patties, they’re as ambitious as to claim to be home of the ‘city’s best’. Selections for main course include the Baja meatball plate,Guacamole steak, and Gorgonzola steak. Their margaritas are even cheaper than the water in some restaurants. They also deliver to Cihangir, Çukurcuma, Sıraselviler, Tünel andGalata.
