A whole generation spent its bayram (holiday) dinners here, a tradition that continues in some families. For most, Koço is a place they first visited with adults, then had their first sip of rakı as teenagers, confessed their loves and experienced the magic of dinners that end with long walks to return home in pitch blackness and sober up with the sea breeze from the Moda shore. The liver cut in sheets, muska börek (triangular pastry filled with cheese or meat), buttery shrimp and köfte for kids who don’t eat fish are the best in the neighbourhood.
