Leblon is managed by Roka Davet, the business responsible for the organisation and catering at all of Istanbul’s major art festivals. The restaurant has been decorated without any modifications to the original architecture of what is classified a secondary historical building. Brick walls, lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling, lightly coloured or only polished plain timber furniture give the place a modern air.
There are two bars: one for drinks and one for gastronomy. Here you can sample types of cheeses, breads and items from the delicatessen. The blackboard has the various items listed with the prices for 20g of each. When having them prepare a sandwich or a cheese and meat platter, you can have them add whatever you feel like in the moment. Though the menu isn’t particularly rich, it’s also satisfying, with meals that are amenable to every palate; the starters are followed by burgers and sandwiches, pastas, salads and main courses. We especially recommend the grilled sausages, beefsteak with honey and wine sauce, and the tagliatelle with gorgonzola.
Local and imported wines (Italian, Chilean, Californian and French) are available and the locals are almost all served by the glass. They also serve most types of alcoholic drink and cocktails. The portions are filling and the prices are average for the area. And if you were wondering, though a bit random, the name originates from the little Rio town of ‘Leblon’.
