The countdown to Easter has begun, and the long weekend makes it the perfect time to book a holiday.

Whether you’re heading home to see family or planning a quick vacation, Easter is one of the best periods when you can travel without stressing about taking leave from work.

With millions of people expected to travel, flight demand always spikes around this time. A report by Lightstone indicates that South Africans travelled more than 2.3 billion kilometres over the Easter long weekend in 2024.

One of the most popular routes is Harare-Johannesburg. Johannesburg is a popular destination for both leisure and business, and many Zimbabweans living in the city use the long weekend to return home and reconnect with family.

To cater for this demand and offer convenience and more options, FlySafair has increased its flight offerings for those eyeing the Harare–Johannesburg route.

The airline announced additional flights on social media for the holiday period. The special runs from 27 March to 7 April 2026. During this time, the airline will introduce twice-daily flights between the two cities, with fares starting from R1,663.

In recent months, the route has seen increased flight activity.

In September, Fastjet also added a new early morning flight between Johannesburg and Harare. Read more about it here.
