Johannesburg is one of the best places to perform in the world, according to global hip-hop superstar Travis Scott. The star recently praised the city for giving him some of the most unforgettable moments on his Circus Maximus World Tour.
The award-winning rapper brought the highly anticipated tour to FNB Stadium in October last year, and the memories from the electrifying Johannesburg show are still fresh in his mind.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, senior editor Jeff Ihaza asked Scott to reflect on some of the most memorable stops on the international tour.
“Out of the tour, what are some of the memorable shows you had?” Ihaza asked.
Travis mentioned Johannesburg, describing the local crowd’s energy as “fire”.

His Johannesburg concert took place on 11 October 2025, and drew a massive crowd to the iconic stadium. The show reportedly sold out, with more than 90,000 fans packing the venue to witness the American rapper perform live.
Following the concert, Scott took to social media platform X to express his appreciation for South African fans.
“Nahhhhhh yall set the TONE. Tonight showed me something different,” he posted.
The overwhelming reception even appeared to move the artist emotionally, with videos circulating online showing him wiping away tears as the crowd clapped and screamed for him.

The 2025 performance was not Scott’s first visit to Johannesburg. Back in 2017, the rapper toured South Africa and visited Alexandra, one of Gauteng’s townships. During the visit, he shared photos with residents and children, and posed in front of homes in the area.
There is no doubt that Johannesburg holds a special place in Scott’s touring career, and one can't help but wonder when he will make his return to the City of Gold.
