Great news for South African travellers: state-owned low-cost airline Mango Airlines is currently in the final stages of concluding a deal that will see it return to service.

After four years of not operating and under financial rescue, the airline announced that it will soon be in service.

'Mango Airlines is currently in the final stages of concluding a transaction with the selected investor that will help restart operations,' the airline announced on its website

The airline has called on customers who previously could not use their purchased tickets due to it ceasing operations to get in touch.

They will receive a voucher equal to the value of their previous unused ticket to help them book their next flight, provided that their dealings with the investor are successful.

However, if the transaction with the investor is unsuccessful, the 'ticket will be treated as a creditor claim in business rescue, and guests will receive a dividend payout that will cover a portion of your total ticket/voucher value.'

Starting from June until Monday, 01 September 2025, customers can visit the website to verify their details on the airline’s verification portal.

'As part of this process, we need to confirm the value of un-flown tickets that were purchased but not used and vouchers that were previously issued but could not be used, as a result of the suspension of Mango’s operations when it entered business rescue,' states the website.

However, those who have already been refunded by their credit card provider, bank, travel agent, or another third party will not be eligible for the refund.

According to the steps, consumers with unflown tickets will need to:

1. Log onto the Mango Portal on the Mango website: www.flymango.com, and follow the
steps
2. Complete the "Mango Flight Ticket Verification Form.
3. To complete this process, you will need either of the following:
Your voucher number (if already issued)
OR
Your booking or PNR number from your original ticket.
