Sefako Mamabolo, popularly known as Psalmist Sefako, has revolutionised the music industry in South Africa.
His unique sound has enabled him travel the world, taking the message of hope and peace to people all over the continent.
As a qualified electrical engineer and actor, Sefako has proven beyond a doubt that the sky is the limit.
Having grown up in the dusty streets of Limpopo, to appearing in popular South African soap operas such as The River on Mzansi Magic and Lithapo on SABC2, Sefako is a young man who has become a source of inspiration to many.
We caught up with the father to speak about how fatherhood has transformed his life.

On Sunday, the world will be celebrating Father’s Day. How has fatherhood changed your life?
It's true, Sunday is Father's Day, and as Psalmist Sefako, a proud father of three beautiful souls, my heart is already brimming with gratitude and reflection. Fatherhood hasn't just changed my life; it's redefined it in every conceivable way.
Before my children came along, my world, while vibrant with music and passion, was largely centered on myself - my aspirations, my craft, my journey. Now, every note I sing, every lyric I write, every decision I make, is filtered through the lens of their well-being and their future.
The most profound change has been the sheer depth of love I've discovered.
What kind of dad are you? How would your children describe you?
I'd say I'm the kind of dad who tries to hit all the right notes with my children, much like I do in my music. I strive to be a present and engaged father, even with the demands of my craft. For me, that means being there for the big moments and the small ones – cheering them on at school events, helping with homework, and just listening to their stories about their day, no matter how trivial they might seem.
Let’s talk about bonding with family. Do you guys go out a lot, and if so, what’s your favourite place to take your kids for fun and games in Johannesburg?
I can certainly speak to the importance of family bonding, especially in a bustling city like Johannesburg. While my work as an artist often takes me out, I make a very deliberate effort to ensure our family time is rich and memorable.
We do enjoy going out quite a bit! It's vital to create shared experiences and let the children explore and burn off some of that incredible energy.
My absolute favourite place to take my kids for fun and games in Johannesburg is Gold Reef City Theme Park. It's not just a theme park; it's an entire experience steeped in the history of this city.

How do you unwind if you are not in the studio working on releasing hits?
My favourite way to unwind is by simply being with my family. My children are truly my greatest joy and they help me disconnect from the demands of being an artist.

What’s your favourite car?
I love Merc- GLE COUPE.
If you were blessed enough to drive it today, which holiday destination would you drive to?
I'd definitely drive to Maputo.
You are from Limpopo and relocated to Johannesburg. What do you appreciate the most about this city?
I appreciate the opportunities.
If you were blessed with a lot of money today and asked to spend it at any store in Johannesburg, which store would you first go to for shopping?
Not entirely sure but a store in Sandton - high designer item wouldn’t hurt.
Lastly, what is your message to young people this Youth Day?
You can be anything you want. If you aren’t happy in your career? Change it. You’ve got the power to change and shift things around. You can be an accountant today and wake up a doctor tomorrow.
