Flying to Johannesburg from other parts of the world continues to get easier.

In the latest development, Qatar Airways has increased the number of flights from its capital Doha, to Johannesburg. The announcement, made earlier this week, has been welcomed by travellers.

The additional flights will start operating from February 2026.

Johannesburg and Doha flights increase from 18 to 21 weekly, starting on 18 February 2026.

The increase comes amid growing demand for travel to South Africa, both for business and leisure, as more travellers from around the world look to explore the country. Qatar Airways currently services more than 100 destinations, and this expansion further cements Johannesburg’s status as a sought-after global travel destination.

The news follows several airlines that have also been increasing their offering to Johannesburg. In 2025, Hong Kong airlines, Cathay Pacific, increased the number of its flights to Johannesburg from five to seven flights per week. In September, SAA announced additional flights across key regional and international routes. Another airline that added flights to Johannesburg is Air Europa. The airline announced the launch of its new flights between Madrid and Johannesburg last week.

Qatar Airways remains committed to boosting tourism between regions and playing a key role in showcasing the beauty of Africa to international travellers. Beyond Johannesburg, Qatar Airways has also expanded its services to other major South African cities, including Cape Town and Durban.

Bookings for the additional flights are now open.
