If your idea of a perfect throwback involves dramatic harmonies, slow jams and pretending you didn’t once dedicate On Bended Knee to someone who absolutely did not deserve it, then clear your weekend plans.

R&B legends Boyz II Men are heading to Pretoria for two nights only this weekend, bringing a healthy dose of nostalgia with them.

Here’s what to know before you go.

Prepare for peak millennial nostalgia

For many of us, Boyz II Men were the soundtrack to school dances, heartbreak, weddings, family braais and those late-night music channel marathons that somehow always ended with End of the Road.

The group remains one of the most successful vocal acts of all time, selling more than 60 million records worldwide and spending a combined 50 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

And when you look at the catalogue, it makes perfect sense. We’re talking I’ll Make Love to You, Water Runs Dry, One Sweet Day, On Bended Knee and A Song for Mama (a Mother's Day classic), songs that still somehow know how to hit you directly in the chest.

There are only two shows

Boyz II Men perform on Friday, May 29, 2026 and Saturday, May 30, 2026, at SunBet Arena at Time Square in Menlyn.

Doors open at 6pm, which means if you’re planning on doing dinner beforehand, you’ll want to keep a close eye on the time. Pretoria traffic, like Joburg, waits for absolutely nobody.

If you still need tickets, don’t take your time

In case you’ve somehow missed the collective excitement around this tour: Saturday’s show is already sold out, while Friday’s performance is sitting at around 70% capacity.

So yes, procrastinators, this is your final warning: make this payday count!

Tickets start from R950 via Webtickets.

Menlyn traffic will test your patience

The Menlyn Maine precinct is always busy on a weekend, and with a concert crowd thrown into the mix, you should probably expect some chaos around peak hours.

Your safest bet is arriving early, finding parking before the rush and giving yourself enough time to settle in before the show starts.

Luckily, the area has plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, so you can easily make a whole night of it instead of stress-speedwalking into the arena five minutes late.

Come for the harmonies, stay for the memories

What’s kept Boyz II Men relevant for decades is the fact that the vocals still deliver.

This isn’t one of those nostalgia acts that rely entirely on the audience doing the heavy lifting. Their live performances are still known for tight harmonies, emotional ballads and the kind of crowd-wide sing-alongs that make you temporarily forget you’re surrounded by strangers.

Expect people singing every word, loudly. As they should.
