Though the touring shows will be back next year you can seeing out the rest of 2014 with a bit of a laugh with these regular gigs on the Leeds comedy scene.

Kaiju Comedy, Wharf Chambers, Thu Dec 4
The co-operative at Wharf Chambers' bar and events are worth checking out in themselves but now the venue has its own comedy night. It's easy on the pocket and frankly anything could happen; compere Dave Rivers maintains control.

The Comedy Sessions, The HiFi Club, Sat Dec 6
The weekly comedy night at the HiFi club kicks off December with a fine line up featuring the irrepressible Dan Nightingale who has been lively and chatty presence on the comedy scene for years. Plus there are performances from the fine Andre Vincent and Sally Ann Hayward.

Kill For a Seat, Coopers, Guiseley, Sun Dec 7
This comedy night is slightly out of town but worth travelling to as it's at the quality bar and eatery that is Coopers. Grab a real ale and take in a selection of top comics with a headline set from smart Brummie comic James Cook and support from the exuberant Juliet Meyers.

Rob Rouse, The Comedy Sessions, The Hi Fi Club, Sat Dec 13
Rouse has been about on the scene for a number of years and has clocked up a fair bit of telly in that time. These days he lives just down the road in Derbyshire and is probably the giddiest Dad doing comedy. Plus there's support from David Morgan.

'Laugh at Leeds' Comedy Course, Verve Comedy Cellar, Tue Dec 16
In association with Kill for A Seat comedy, nervous newbies test out their newly acquired skills at the Comedy Cellar's friendly club. Get along and give them your support, after all you never know where they're going to be in a few years time and a fair few gigs later.

Kill For a Seat, Seven Arts, Wed Dec 17
Comedian Silky's Kill For a Seat comedy knows a great comedian when they see one and this month it's Duncan Oakley who performs a fine line in musical silliness. Plus there's support from up and coming Welsh comic Kiri Pritchard MacLean.

Portion of Quips, Toast, Wed Dec 17
This month at the gig in the smart Toast bar, there's a headline performance from Yorkshire man and promising comic Jim Bayes with support from Dave Rivers, Fran Garrity and Ross Brierley.

Barry Dodds, Jongleurs, wed Dec 17 - Sat Dec 20
The cheeky Geordie comic braves the pre-Christmas crowds at Jongleurs. But if anyone can tackle it Dodds can; genial, engaging and observational his anecdotes will have you giggling all the way home.

The Comedy Sessions, The HiFi Club, Sat Dec 20
A pre-Christmas line up and the last of the year from the HiFi club. With the rubber faced stand up Paul Tonkinson, the up and coming Jessica Fostekew and beguiling storyteller Danny Deegan.

New Year's Eve, Jongleurs, Wed Dec 31
New Year gigs can be a bit of a bear pit – particularly for the comedians – but they can also be a lot of fun. This year at Jongleurs you'll be seeing 2014 out with the sparkling (literally) Jonathan Mayor, the Manchester Godfather Smug Roberts, former circus performer Martin Mor and the smart Chris Turner.
