Sweet cheesus: Leeds has a pop up cheese cafe

From Friday October 9, the LAB bar at the Merrion Centre has become a dairy lover's dream after being transformed in a cheese cafe.

The pop up cafe will be in place for the next six months and has been created by a partnership between popular Leeds cheese club Homage2Fromage and bar operators Jones Bar Group, owners of LAB, Hirst's Yard, Brooklyn and Roxy Lanes and Ball Room.

For those looking for an unadulterated cheese dining experience, the cheese cafe and bar will feature a range of hard cheeses like Cheddar, Red Leicester and Wensleydale; a selection of goat and sheep cheeses; washed rind cheeses like Reblochon, Tallegio and Langres; and blue cheeses, too. There's even the chance to enjoy a 'mystery cheese', if you've got an open mind.

Alternatively, if you're looking for more of a meal, the menu features such delights as Yorkshire rarebit, mac and cheese, halloumi sliders and the intriguing 'Yorkshire fromage-a-trois'.

This is the first project of its type by the Homage2Fromage club, which hosts regular meetings in Leeds, Farsley, Sheffield, Bradford, Manchester and Harrogate. Members got to sample the cafe before it opened to the public but also enjoy other cheese related benefits, too.
