Moved to its current home in 1987, a former synagogue in Chapeltown just on the outskirts of the city, The Northern School of Contemporary Dance has gained a worthy reputation over its 30 years for training great contemporary dancers.
Its in-house performance space the Riley Theatre hosts cutting edge contemporary dance from across Europe and regular performances from graduate company Verve. It’s a quirky and intimate space with dark wood pews laid out in a circle; worth the ticket price alone to experience at least once.
