Named after two of Leeds’ most generous cultural philanthropists, the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre is based in the shared headquarters of the city’s biggest classical and contemporary companies respectively, Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre. Alongside mixed bills from these home companies, the theatre attracts big names like Ballet Black, Ballet Central and National Dance Company Wales.
The multimillion pound building, opened in October 2010, also has seven studios – including the largest dance studio space in Europe – a café and several floors of offices, costume departments and the like, free to explore on public open days.
