World War II spies, royal families on vacation, writers, politicians. There are plenty of big names in the history of this Estoril fixture, set in a Marginal Road bungalow overlooking the sea. But the one you should remember is Cima, the family name of the Galician proprietor who acquired the restaurant in the 1950s, giving it its soul (faithfully maintained by the current third-generation owners): international food with Galician roots, French influences and a knack for cooking game – the English Bar Woodcock is one of the menu highlights.
Time Out tips:
– Their cellar has more than 20,000 wines.
– The steak tartar is worth every euro (32 of them in all).
– If you like game food, this is the finest restaurant in this guide.
