Time Out says

This 19th-century market was originally called Mercado da Ribeira Nova. Locals, amazed by the sight of a dome on a market selling vegetables, nicknamed it ‘Turnip Mosque’. Fresh produce stalls still operate in one of the wings, but since 2014, the space has transformed into a three-dimensional reflection of Time Out Lisboa magazine. The Time Out Market Lisboa offers a curated selection of the city’s best restaurants, bars, shops, a performance venue, a cooking school and a whole lot more.

What’s on

Blues&Swing

On the improvised dance floor of the Market’s food hall, there’s also room for the Blues. With over 100 years of history, this music carries a rich variety of styles, which naturally found their way into dance. For half an hour, from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m., you’ll have the chance to learn how to dance Swing & Blues. If you’d rather skip the lesson, just show up at 5:30 p.m., when the party kicks off with a DJ set. The event wraps up at 7:30 p.m.

Samba de Gafieira

Dancing returns to the Market’s food hall with another night of music and dance hosted by Espaço Baião. This evening is dedicated to samba de gafieira, a partner ballroom dance that’s a hallmark of Brazilian culture. Who’s in?

BaiĂŁo no Mercado

Once a month, the Market’s food hall hosts a forró night with Espaço Baião, and everyone is invited to join the party – whether they know how to dance or not. For those who don’t, a little before the dance begins, the basic steps are taught.

Salsa at the Market

Flavors and spices are never lacking at Time Out Market, but on the last Wednesday of the month there’s an extra kick. It’s Salsa night, the queen of Latin dances. From 9 p.m. to midnight, the Market’s food hall welcomes everyone who wants to come and dance.
