1. Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina

This lux property was a crown jewel in Carl Fisher’s vision of turning Montauk into a well-to-do playground. On a private waterfront, this resort from circa 1928 charms with luxe accommodations, a prize marina and cuisine sourced from local farms and waters. It holds 107 guest rooms, 22 villa rooms and one harbor-view suite; they all possess scenic water or resort views, 40-inch LCD TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi. Enjoy amenities ranging from daily beach cabanas to a fitness center to a private beach lake to paddleboards, bicycles and kayaks. Its marina holds 232 slips with a craft capacity of 220 feet and a maximum 12-foot draft, plus it offers boaters access to both its amenities and the resort’s. 32 Star Island Rd (631-668-3100, montaukyachtclub.com)

2. Montauk Manor

At this condominium resort hotel, 100 rental units are available for a stay on Signal Hill, Montauk’s second-highest point. The property’s got a neat backstory, too: It opened in 1927 by Fisher, an industrialist who wanted to make Montauk a summer getaway. Nowadays, guests have access to heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the latter is open from Memorial Day to Columbus Day, weather permitting), a day spa, three tennis courts, a small gym and an on-site restaurant, La Finé (schedule varies; check on seasonal availability). Daily maid service is also offered. Choose between studio apartments or one-, two- or three-bedroom suites. A courtesy van can get you around, just put in a request beforehand.
