It’s no secret that Californians have been flocking to the spiritual town of Ojai for many years. Nestled in the Ventura County valleys, among the Topatopa Mountains, this place has a tranquil vibe that can’t be matched anywhere else. You’ll only need to drive a couple of hours out of Los Angeles before finding the slow-paced, relaxing getaway. While in town, they enjoy top-notch restaurants and find plenty of chill things to do. Many hotels offer free bike rentals to get around town, and some will even give guests vouchers for drinks in town.

This Inn may not look like much from the outside, but once you’re inside, even the front office is impeccably designed, with old-school thermoses of coffee on the porch, beautiful ceramic light fixtures, and lots of handmade, local goods for sale. Aesthetic-wise, the hotel blends modern and rustic, clean and earthy. Picture this – each room has its porch with vintage camp chairs, log bedframes, and raised hot tubs for an upscale motel experience.

The mood? A hodgepodge of boho, rustic and retro vibes. 
Location perks? Situated at the foot of Topatopa Mountain, you'll have access to a nearby bike trail and a cute little on-site bar by the name of Beer, Wine, and Vinyl.

Blue Iguana Inn, a peaceful hacienda-style hotel with Spanish architecture, is nestled right on the main road leading into Ojai. Amenities include a pool, jacuzzi, complimentary continental breakfast, and tastefully decorated (dog-friendly) suites with hardwood floors and high ceilings. While the Blue Iguana is not very centrally located, Ojai is so small that this means just a short drive to the downtown shopping district, where parking should be a breeze. For an adults-only option closer to town, check out their sister property Emerald Iguana Inn, six blocks from downtown with a tranquil garden vibe.

Su Nido Inn is named after the Spanish word for a nest (in fact, Ojai means nest in Chumash), and this hotel indeed functions as a soothing Ojai nest for its guests. Made up mostly of spacious suites (all named after birds, featuring kitchenettes and living rooms with fireplaces) surrounding a gorgeous Spanish-style courtyard, this boutique inn is a fabulous base for a weekend in town. Just a five-minute walk to the downtown shops for convenient exploring, the Inn also treats guests on-site with a day spa. 

The mood? Classic luxury. 
Location perks? A stay in one of these beautiful individually decorated suites provides the perfect stopover for those in town for a short while.

Another Shelter Social Club property, Capri Hotel is a reasonably priced option in Ojai with mid-century style, clean rooms, and a location within walking distance from downtown. There’s a bottle of local wine in each room’s minibar, and the beds are nice and firm. The pool area has lounge chairs, shady cabanas, big umbrellas, and a huge lawn for bocce ball, croquet, or rowdy kids. The hotel is especially kid-friendly—there’s a wading pool just for little ones—so if you’re not into under-12s, you may want to choose another spot.

The mood? Designer oasis.

5. Grand Avenue Ranch

Now this is what we call a hidden treasure. On the outside, a cute, rustic, sandy-coloured ranch home nestled beneath a few trees, while inside it's bright and spacious with lots of ambient, warm tones that just make you want to curl up with a cup of frothy cocoa. Delish. This two-bed offers the perfect hideout for couples or a family road trip in the wild with ample space for relaxing indoors and outdoors. This location was made for admiring the rocky desert terrain, serene mountain views and burnt orange sunsets. 

The mood? Cozy and luxurious. 
Location perks? Out back you can enjoy a large outdoor area with a fire pit, hot tub, table tennis, a swing set and more.  
Budget range? A little pricey, but well worth going off the beaten track for.
