This museum for enthusiasts of philately and numismatics boasts a huge collection, dating from the 18th century, that is among the most important in the world. The history of coins is represented in chronological order, and complemented by various displays of seals, bank notes, engravings, rare books and medals, plus around 10,000 sketches and drawings from Spain, Italy and Flanders, ranging from the 16th to 18th century. Recent acquisitions include the die in which the last peseta coins were cast and examples of the last print-run of 10,000 peseta notes. It also stages a large number of interesting temporary exhibitions.
