An airy and peaceful space with high ceilings and a dusty elegance, its marble-topped tables slightly chipped and its red-velvet banquettes a little worn. A favourite haunt of journos and wannabe travel writers, Barbieri has plenty of newspapers and magazines, but its ordinary coffee comes at a premium and the service lacks much verve.
