JazzMadrid 14: Randy Weston – A tribute to Javier de Cambra

Madrid fans have had the chance to enjoy visits from this Brooklyn pianist on several occasions, but this appearance is more special (if that’s possible) because it was conceived to pay homage to journalist Javier de Cambra, an intellectual who lived the jazz dynamic with as much passion as its creators.

Randy Weston is someone who has managed to turn his musical activity into a brand. A living legend and an unmissable chapter for those who want to follow the story of the African echoes in the music that this artist has been producing for over 60 years. This 'scientific' aspect has allowed him to revise traditional musical legacies such as those from Egypt, the Maghreb and, on occasions, even central Asia. The programme for the concert will also feature guest appearances by Jorge Pardo, Javier Colina and Josemi Carmona, and sets with DJ Bombín and DJ Floro, closing out the tribute show.
