Located in the heart of Malasaña, this theatre with more than 120 years of history behind it started out as a demountable summer theatre hall. For a time it was known as ‘Madrid Cinema’ and showed films as well as staging musicals, specialising in variety shows. In February 1999, when the comedy duo Faemino and Cansado were on the bill, the Madrid city council closed the place down for structural deficiencies. In 2005 it reopened with the same comedy duo on the bill. Its stage has seen performances by artists like Amparo Larrañaga, Enrique San Francisco, Pedro Reyes, Luis Piedrahita, Joaquín Reyes, Ernesto Sevilla, Ángel Martín, Ricardo Castella, Maria Luisa Merlo, Cristina Solá, Raúl Cimas, Mauro Muñiz, María José Hoyos, Gracia Olayo, Rosa María Sardá and many others.
