Manchester’s best celebrated at Manchester Food and Drink Awards

Restaurants, pubs and chefs from across the city have all been honoured in this year’s Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards. The awards, which mark the end of the festival, celebrate those in the hospitality industry from across Greater Manchester and beyond and were presented at a gala dinner at Manchester Cathedral.

Phil Jones, the director of Manchester Food and Drink Festival, says the awards are a tribute to the city’s dining scene: ‘Congratulations to all the MFDF shortlisted venues and especially to all the winners – bravo Manchester,’ he adds.

The winners are:

Restaurant of the Year: The French.

Newcomer of the Year: Hawksmoor.

Chef of the Year: Alex Shaw, Volta, Didsbury.

Pub of the Year: The Marble Arch.

Food Pub of the Year: The Clarence, Bury.

Bar of the Year: Ply.

Coffee Bar or Tea Shop of the Year: Lupo Caffè Italiano, Salford.

Cheap Eats of the Year: Lily’s, Ashton-under-Lyne.

Best Food and Drink Retailer of the Year: A Taste of Honey, Didsbury.

Best Food and Drink Pop Up Event, Club or Project of the Year: Altrincham Market.

Best Street Food of the Year: Yakumama.

MFDF Award for Manchester’s Best Vegetarian Offer: Lotus, Withington.

The Howard and Ruth Award for Outstanding Achievement: Mike and Maggie Noone from R. Noone and Sons, Stockport.
