The Warp & The Weft. Paseo. Mike From New York. Saturday, June 6 says
Fabulous show on Saturday. Upstart folk duo The Warp & The Weft co headline with Paseo. Mike from New York opens the show at 8 sharp. You seriously don't want to miss this. Those who come early will be glad they did.

THE WARP & THE WEFT are a folk duo that features Gina Sposto of Greedy Kidney and John Peter Hansen of a Midtown duplex. This is so new we don't know what to call it yet—post folk, freak folk, or something else entirely. They do have a very traditional retro presentation and it is fascinating. Captivating. Want to revisit the American folk revival of the 1960s in person? This is as close as you are ever going to get to your Inside Llewyn Davis moment.

Gina Sposto spearheaded the former (much adored and dearly missed) New Wave, post-soul, indie pop band Greedy Kidney. John Peter Hansen has been singing and writing all his life. The Warp & The Weft is his first project.

PASEO is the musical moniker of Richard Dalton, formerly the frontman of the local band Animal Sounds. While his previous group's album The City & The Sea was a full-on dynamic and colorful, rock and roll record, Dalton now focuses more on the rootsy, stripped down aspects of his writing style, in order to craft deeper, more thoughtful songs.

Dalton chose the name Paseo because he was fascinated by the idea of how whole communities in Spain (and the Mediterranean world in general) will walk during the golden hour for reflection and relaxation. This has become a metaphor for the way he has approached the themes of his songs: time and moments, relationships and change, reflection and leisure.

Stylistically, much of his music can be compared to Americana artists like Ryan Adams, David Rawlings, or Jeff Tweedy. Paseo has been writing songs for an album to be titled The Years Will Change You coming soon.

Mike from New York opens the show at 8 sharp. He's from Greenwich Village specifically. He moved to Memphis and has been hanging around the shop. He's got a cool hat and interesting tattoos. We've only seen and heard him play the banjo. We are absolutely certain you will enjoy his set!
