An Insta-ready B&B right in the middle of Mexico City

Chaya B&B is perhaps one of Mexico City’s most unique hotels, situated as it is on the roof of a gorgeously renovated Art Deco building that’s packed with trendy places to eat, drink and shop, along with an explosion of greenery flowing from every balcony. The 45 steps you need to climb to get there will leave you breathless, but Chaya’s welcoming and relaxed vibe more than makes up for it.

The B&B itself is stunning. The rooms are arranged around a wooden walkway that follows the footprint of the balconies below, along which hammocks hang and (yet more) plants are dotted. Inside, the tasteful approach to design continues, with concrete floors and smart lights made out of tree branches. Those who are all about the ‘gram will also love the picture-perfect standalone bath that sits in the middle of Chaya’s largest suite.

Neighborhood:
The Historic Center is the place to be if you’re keen to see Mexico City’s biggest sights, though it’s also one of the busiest. Alameda Central is a lovely park to stroll around, and the walk from its eastern edge along Avenue 5 de Mayo will take you past Palacio de Bellas Artes and down to the expansive Zocolo. There’s also heaps of shopping in this area for those who are looking to splash some holiday cash.

Nearby:
1. Mezcalería Mundana: For an unbeatable selection of mescals.
2. Taquería Los Cocuyos: For mouth-watering tacos from a hole-in-the-wall joint.
3. Arena Ciudad de México: For cheering, yelling, shouting and screaming at a Lucha Libre wrestling match.

Time Out tip:
Light sleepers should ask for a room towards the back of the hotel, away from Alameda Central, as things can get pretty noisy at night in this part of town.
