People from Chicago and New York more likely to wrinkle than Miamians

In the past year, Miami has ranked as both America’s rudest city and the worst place to live, but we’ve finally been given some good news. According to the third-annual Wrinkle Ranking by RoC® Skincare, Miami is only number 30 (!) in a list of 50 states most at risk for skin damage and premature aging by the year 2040.

Miamians may spend lots of time in the sun but we aren’t as prone to wrinkles as Chicagoans or New Yorkers, who ranked fourth and eighth, respectively. As for Los Angeles, number 25 on the list, your people will be shriveling up like California raisins long before we ever start sagging. Take that!

We have two city-wide gripes to thank for our good fortune: rain and traffic. Regular showers keep our air humid, hairdos high and our skin moist and moisturized; while traffic during long commutes keeps us in our cars and away from fumes and pollutants that lead to wrinkles. So the next time you’re whining about a pile-up on the Palmetto, take a moment to flip open your car’s visor mirror and admire your taut skin.

All that driving, however, is also what keeps Miami from achieving a better wrinkle ranking. As the fourth-most inactive city in the U.S., we’re squandering the skin-saving benefits of exercise. Instead, we’re moving our mouths, as Miami has the country’s highest population of gum chewers. Fresh breath is important but the constant motion causes lines and folds around the lips due to muscle overuse. The solution? Get in your car, pop a Tic Tac and drive to the nearest plastic surgeon’s office. After all, Miami has the most plastic surgeons per capita than any city in America. Problem solved.
