Miamians love to say we live where you vacation. You have to fly or drive here while we get to reap the benefits of paradise without the need to travel. The downside? We work where you vacation, so while you’re out sunbathing we’re busy toiling away. If a staycation isn’t in the plans but the stress of work isn't letting up, give yourself a mental break with these local happenings aimed at helping you chill the hell out this week.

Meditation classes at Carillon Miami Beach

In honor of National Meditation Month, the Carillon Miami Beach is helping locals tune out the noise and tune in to a happier, healthier way of life with free meditation classes throughout May. Classes take place on the sand behind the hotel so prepare to be soothed by the sound of crashing waves and the inherent benefits of becoming more mindful: reduced anxiety, stress and critical thinking. (Mon–Fri 7am, Sat 8am; Sun 8:30am; 6801 Collins Ave)

FusionFest at Exhale Spa

If you’ve ever been curious to try Exhale Spa’s muscle-lengthening, core-strengthening workouts, their annual FusionFest is your shot to do so at no charge. This Thursday, May 19th, the spa and wellness center is hosting their annual nationwide Core Fusion party at their Bal Harbour and Downtown Miami locations. You’ll have five opportunities to break a sweat during one of five signature Core Fusion and barre workouts offered throughout the day, plus there’ll be free mini therapies, trunk shows and giveaways. (Thu 5–8pm, exhalespa.com/fusionfest)

Full moon yoga at the Surfcomber South Beach

Channel the lunar effects of Friday’s full moon into a sweaty yoga session at the Surfcomber South Beach. The outdoor class will be led by Lululemon instructor Sharon Aluma and Pablo Lucero. Post practice head to the hotel’s High Tide restaurant for discounted food and drinks with your fellow yogis. Bring your own mat and make sure you register here(Fri 7–10pm; 1717 Collins Ave)
