With the frequency that Miamians travel down to Key West, which is less than 200 miles away, the Conch Republic might as well be in another country. It’s beautiful but far, and no matter how much we long for its unique flavors, we won’t make the trip. And as of tonight, you won’t have to: Key West by Nikki Beach, a new restaurant from Nikki Beach owner Jack Penrod, opens to the public this evening.

An offshoot of sister property in Dubai, the restaurant highlights island living through food, décor and ambiance. The white-washed walls are typical of Florida Keys establishments while the seafood-heavy menu is classic Key West, down to the property’s open-air entrance—a nod to the city’s roadside fish shacks. In keeping with the theme, Key West boasts a “fish market,” where diners can select their fresh catch to be made á la carte, as well as a full raw bar, sushi and other seafood options.

Key West by Nikki Beach (One Ocean Dr, Miami Beach) opens for dinner Monday through Saturday, 5pm to midnight. A nightly Key West-inspired happy hour is in the works.
