We want our museums to be immersive and our meals to be interactive, but what if there was a space where both were possible? A venue that takes you deep into the ocean while bringing you up close with its bounty in a way that’s thoughtful and focused on conservation. Hidden Worlds, an impactainment company that counts Philippe Cousteau among its leaders, is seeing to it in Miami with its very first immersive experience.
Opening on May 20, Hidden Worlds Miami takes over Rudolf Budja Gallery (1330 18th St, Miami Beach) and will function as an immersive educational facility during the day, where folks can embark on a 40-minute journey through oceans and mangroves. In the evening, it’ll transform into an interactive restaurant where an extended underwater projection will serve as the backdrop for a marine-minded dinner.
A team of Miami-based creatives collaborated to create the overall tangible experience. Artists Morel Doucet and Frank Niebla created physical art pieces (studio Albyon in Paris worked on the hyperrealistic images you’ll see projected throughout the space), chef Scott Linquist of Como Como Miami conceived a multi-course, ocean-positive menu and mixologist Gio Gutierrez of Chatchowtv developed a selection of original cocktails.
“Miami is unlike any other city combining beautiful nature with world-class entertainment, but it is also at risk. From the loss of biodiversity to plastic pollution, the Magic City faces serious environmental challenges,” says Daniel Hettwer, Hidden Worlds Entertainment CEO. To that end, Hidden Worlds will be making Miami its permanent home, “developing impactainment from Miami for the world,” he says.
Hidden Worlds Miami runs May 20 through June 20, opening Tuesday through Sunday. A 40-minute daytime experience will be available for $32 with prix-fixe seated dinners served nightly at 8pm for $250 per person. Tickets are available now.
