Drag queens revive Celebrity Deathmatch at Miami's newest queer bash

Did last month’s queer bonanza Wigwood leave you craving more ferocity? Well—lucky you—because this Saturday, February 17, brings the latest installation of Miami’s newest drag party: Celebrity Deathmatch.

The name is probably familiar to fans of the late ‘90s MTV claymation series, a fan favorite that did its best to recreate pop culture’s most famous feuds in a gloriously bloody wrestling ring.

Sadly, the show ended in 2007, but this new monthly party, created by our favorite Miss Toto, is keeping the spirit of the show alive and replacing the clay figurines with Miami’s best drag queens and kings. The lineup for Saturday’s party is stacked: Ellen DeGeneres against Portia de Rossi; Kim versus Kanye; Oprah taking on Stedman; and, finally, peanut butter versus jelly. The whole thing takes place in an actual wrestling ring inside Downtown club the Hangar.

The party, presented in partnership with This Free Life, is free with RSVP and there will also be an open bar from 10:30pm to 11:30pm and if you’re not sold by now, well, you are a lifeless blob incapable of feeling emotion. Sorry. Was that harsh? It's just that we're really excited to see some hair fly and also insanely curious to see a drag version of the honorable Mills Lane.
