Fireman Derek's pies are coming to Coconut Grove

Anyone in this city with a sweet tooth has hopefully tucked into one of Firemen Derek’s pies, which range from classic recipes to creations that look like they were baked by a group of renegade six-year-olds who were just told they had only one hour left to eat sugar forever. (Shoutout to the ganache, peanut butter, banana, oreo, pretzel Salty Monkey Pie.)

Just about everything on the menu is delicious though, which is why the tiny Wynwood shop, which opened its brick building in July 2014, has earned enough fans to feel ready for its first expansion into Coconut Grove. Sometime this summer, Fireman Derek's Bake Shop will open its second store at 3435 Main Highway.

Co-owner Derek Kaplan told the Herald that if this location goes well, he has his eyes on more shops in Doral, Aventura and at the Dadeland Mall. So go show them some love in the Grove this summer and before you know it we’ll be absolutely filthy with pies, Miami. And that's a good thing.
